Steeping coffee grounds in cold or room temperature water for a minimum of 8 hours is how cold brew coffee is made. This results to a less acidic coffee which also has a sweeter taste that glides smoothly on your tongue. There are multiple ways to drink cold brew coffee; with a touch of milk, condensed milk or just sugar syrup.

Here in Manila, there are at least 9 cafes that offer cold brew coffee in their menu; all of which are great in their own way so when you’re out and about, check out any of these cafes.

CBTL has been in operation all over the world since 1963 and they have a wide selection of coffee drinks ranging from sweet to not so sweet, creamy or black, etc. but one of the newest additions in their line-up is their cold brew coffee, Viennes Blend and for 145php, you can taste this full-bodied concoction which is a result of 20 hours of steeping. Ask for a touch of milk and you’ll really like it even without the sugar.

Bo’s coffee is popular in the Philippines because they source their coffee beans from the country so every cup you buy from them means you’re helping our local coffee farmers. You can try ordering their White Cold White Brew which is priced at 135php; it’s a plain cold brew and topped with syrup and milk.

Yardstick Coffee

Cold Brew No.1 from Yardstick is a velvety, rich and bold cold brew which was steeped for 12 hours; this is priced at 180php. They specifically used roasted coffee beans for the cold brew process. Their Cold Brew No. 2, priced at 190php comes with milk and a little bit of cane sugar so it is sweeter. This is ready to be brought home because it’s in a bottle.

Luna Breakfast & Coffee’s

This café offers something interesting; they use a slow drip method on a cold tower using various kinds of beans so the flavors are strong, full and clean. A cup of their original is priced at 230php while hazelnut goes for 250php. You can also bring it at home because they have a bottled version.

The Curious Pair

This unique coffee company offers smooth cold brew with eccentric names that won’t let your forget. Knox is their basic black cold brew which is priced at 245php and Lumos is priced at 285php which is a sweet Vietnamese-style blend.  Enjoy a bottle by slowly sipping for a taste and don’t finish the whole bottle quickly.

EDSA Beverage Design Co.

This is one of the most energizing cold brew concoctions in the whole metro. It’s priced at 220php and there really isn’t a need to add milk and sugar because it’s great as it is. Slurp Coffee

Slurp brews their coffee for 24 hours that’s why the flavours are intense and really smooth and silky. Their original brew can be had for 150php and the salted caramel version goes for 180php.

One of the cafes you should head for is Local Edition which brews their coffee for more than 6 hours and they make use of Cold Bruer which makes their coffee tasting full-bodied and sweet. You can also add milk if you want.
